It is also reasonable to assume that they just figure they’re too big to be called out or that they can’t be hurt by this. Which may or may not be true, but what is true is that it was/is an asshole move.

Yeah, this is what I think happened. I sent them multiple emails and got no response. There’s not really much I can do about it, unfortunately.

Would have been cool if they acknowledged our presence and offered to collab with us in Charleston in some way. I mean they have to know about the Charleston music scene, they’re only 6 hours away.

It’s just more corporate bullshit in my eyes. And I could end up getting sued for slander if I go on about it too hard. So…. I let it go and will keep building what I’ve got here to the point where it can’t be ignored.

Dude I know! Great song, glad you dig. I also really like “Feeling In Love (From The Waist Down)”

I’ve seen them in a bunch of different settings including on a huge stage at Austin City Limits in 2022. Pour House deck is a sick place for them to be playing in Charleston.

Dude hell yeah. I’m also a huge fan of open source software.

Fun fact – the original Extra Chill logo was designed with Gimp. So were our tie-dye stickers.

The one thing about it is the learning curve, it’s kind of difficult to figure out. I’ve never used photoshop, but someone I talked to said it’s basically the same learning curve that you’d have with PS, except for free. I find myself using Canva more these days because it’s super easy to use, but definitely not as powerful.

Adobe software is all ridiculously expensive.

Another fun fact – Extra Chill is basically powered by open source software. WordPress is also free and open source, and probably my favorite open source software ever. This forum is run by another open source software too, bbPress, created by the WordPress folks.

I love how you can get super creative with open source software. Not only is it legal, but it’s encouraged! Badass.

Another new release from Die Spitz, “Little Flame.” That last one was a ripper, and this one is a lot more mellow. Goes to show how talented they are, and also falling in line with the “genre-less” trend in modern music that I talk about all the time.

This band is going to blow up. When I was in Austin, everybody was talking about them. It’s only a matter of time before they break out of that scene and start doing bigger tours.

I was listening to this one today while sailing on Folly Beach and really enjoyed the heck out of it. Sometimes it seems like he can remember the Bob Dylan songs better than his own, lol.

Did you see their Hinge campaign for their last show in NYC? Just awesome stuff. I was talking to Persona La Ave about how good this band is at the modern promo game.

in reply to: Will Nugs live stream sphere shows?

Dude I hope so but I doubt it for Phish at least. Maybe some of the Dead & Co shows will be streamed on Nugs this summer.

I’m so jealous of anyone who is going to see Phish at the Sphere tonight.

Another interview with Trey about the Sphere, this one on video courtesy of Alternative Press

He says: “I love getting up in the morning and creatively thinking of another cool thing to blow people’s minds. I mean it’s like my favorite thing to do.”

I’m so jealous of anyone who will be in attendance at these shows. Trey seems really excited about it… it’s going to be incredible…. can’t wait to see what they came up with.

Maybe the best cover of this song I’ve heard. Such a rad band.

Another thing to add, RE: being critical

Don’t worry about upsetting any PR people. Think about your own job and your own asshole boss. In this case the asshole boss is a Live Nation stiff. The PR people are on our side unless they have an @livenation.com email address.

People in general are ready for a change in the music industry and we can do our part to help bring that about.

I was critical of them last year and they responded by giving us 4 tickets this year.

Not saying “be critical on purpose.” But moreso, if something sticks out as blatantly wrong, say it with your chest.
