I’ll be lurking… and waiting for the first “Dark Star”

HMFICLocal Scene: Austin, TXRank: FlurryPoints: 21019Even while I’m at a festival with lots of different artists, I’m still out here on my friend’s porch listening to Jerry. Lot on my mind this past week and my buddy @qrisg sent me this one. Jerry’s got a song for everything.

Jerry shouts the “headlight” verse with all his might and it’s just awesome (around 8:50-9min)

HMFICLocal Scene: Austin, TXRank: FlurryPoints: 21019I was listening to this one today while sailing on Folly Beach and really enjoyed the heck out of it. Sometimes it seems like he can remember the Bob Dylan songs better than his own, lol.

I’m into this of course and can’t wait to hear it. But I’ve gotta say I really loved the previous one from ’82 and I would love to hear some more 80s Jerry see release in general.
I’m aware that this was a rougher period for him but I also think some of the best “diamonds in the rough” are 80s jerry.
Happy with any new JGB that makes its way into the world.

HMFICLocal Scene: Austin, TXRank: FlurryPoints: 21019I just finished writing about “Ramble on Rose” and I’m going through recordings of it now.
This is one of the most famous Grateful Dead recordings out there, and it’s clear to see why. I remember I sent you this one when I first got into the Dead @marleyfacedboy. – 7/7/89 RFK Stadium in Philly
6/26/94 Las Vegas – Jerry’s vocals are so weirdly off during this but it also kinda slaps. Jerry in short shorts and high off his ass!

Yeah the vocals on Europe ’72 version are great, it’s definitely the one that is seen as the “definitive” version. Fun fact it was never released on a studio album but the Dead played it over 300 times and it’s one of the most well-known Deadhead songs.
Also, obligatory, Happy 5/8/77 day

HMFICLocal Scene: Austin, TXRank: FlurryPoints: 21019GarciaLive Volume 21 has been out for about a month and I absolutely love it. Show is from February 13th, 1976, with two tracks at the end from February 15th.
The 1976 sound was supremely chill both in the Grateful Dead and the JGB world. This GarciaLive embodies that chill sound quite well.
My favorite after several listens is “The Harder They Come.” 18+ minutes of pure Jerry chillness, with some great building towards the end. Jerry’s last solo is just excellent.
Whole CD is worth a listen but this is the one you gotta hear if you only picked one
