  • I agree, the videos are great. Thank you for sharing!

Did you show this to the bands / the Pour House?

The video quality is insanely good and the audio is totally passable, especially given the handheld camera style. It’s like listening to an audience tape recording which a lot of people like, and with video it gives the feel of being right there with a front row view.

If you ever wanted to, you could try to sync a video up with a mix from the soundboard but it might take away from the in-the-moment aspect.

@katepbryan’s review of High Water Fest discusses Babe Club’s set & more. Loved seeing them on that stage: https://extrachill.com/high-water-festival-2024-review

Backwoods Festival – Scheduled June 6-9 2024 at Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, AZ

Really getting hard out there for anyone who isn’t affiliated with music industry corporations.

Looks like it will be Dear Blanca. We are going to announce the festival next week probably. Or the week after.

I am going to set up a campaign to drive pre-sale engagement through the forum by sending the lineup to community members a day early with a coupon code.

New GarciaLive out on June 14th. Volume 21, featuring the show from 2/13/76.

I’m into this of course and can’t wait to hear it. But I’ve gotta say I really loved the previous one from ’82 and I would love to hear some more 80s Jerry see release in general.

I’m aware that this was a rougher period for him but I also think some of the best “diamonds in the rough” are 80s jerry.

Happy with any new JGB that makes its way into the world.

in reply to: How does a local artist get included with EC

Hey dude thanks for signing up!

Good question and thanks for asking it. Couple things that we have in the works right now that could start to answer that question. Aside from the answer that says record and release some music and hit us up about it (or post it on this forum):

    1. We are working on an open mic style event at Lofi that will hopefully give more opportunities for people who want to play. (first one May 23rd)
    2. I am adding a feature to our calendar that would allow people to list their own shows

Open to other ideas, if you have something in mind. I can’t interview everybody because there isn’t enough time. This forum was created to try and give us more room to include more people, so we are actively working on that.

Anyone is welcome to chime in with ideas!

Hey Schiz, thanks for joining and sharing your music!

The only thing I know about the music scene in Rock Hill is centered around the “Concerts at the Courtroom” series hosted by Mike Gentry. The program is funded by the York County Arts Council and Mike books all kinds of different local artists from the scene there and beyond. I’d imagine that is where you can meet some people who can tell you more, if you haven’t already checked them out.

The last time I was there was quite some time ago (2019), but it was filled with a super diverse crowd and I’d imagine that it has only gotten more well-run ever since.

Here’s the interview I did with him back then, much of this is (probably) still valid information: https://extrachill.com/2019/01/the-courtroom-is-the-heart-of-the-rock-hill-music-scene.html

Someone was also telling me about the house show scene there and how it has some interesting alternative genres.

Thanks again for sharing your music, I wasn’t able to add it to our playlist this week but I hope you continue to share and engage with the community. I’d be willing to share some more direct feedback on the music, if you’d like, just respond here and let me know, and I’ll send you a note via email.

    Cheers,

    Chris

@toastedcarrot fun fact I stood behind the Linda Lindas during the Flaming Lips and they were all dancing, grooving, and having the time of their lives. One person asked them for a photo but mostly everyone just let them boogie!

I gotta say Wayne Coyne’s stage presence was also really great. He really seemed to care and created an atmosphere that was very positive to be around.

I’ll be back when my article is ready… and Kate’s… plus photos…
