Lots of once-great festivals have kicked the bucket lately. The latest, which Live Nation handled very poorly, was Peach. They just silently took the website down without an official announcement. Word on the street is that ticket sales were under 10,000 for the past few years.

Jam bands seem to be making a comeback but maybe not jam band fests quite yet.

Summer Camp is another great one that had its final year in 2023, but handled much better by the promoter with an announcement and strategic pivot.

Anyway this thread is to talk about Music Festivals that don’t exist anymore and maybe share memories from them.

      PEACH NOOOOOO

(wonder if the propane tank fire influenced this decision)

I think it was really a ticket sales thing. Live Nation are such vampires. They will suck all the life out of any good thing and simply discard it without care for the community that was centered around it.

RIP. Well the good news is you literally can’t spit in this country without hitting a new music festival so…

      Is that good news?

My biggest problem is that all these festivals end up with the same lineups. I want to see more independently-booked events pop up. I want to see more creativity and less suits in a room saying “OK WE HAVE 30 BANDS AND 15 FESTIVALS LETS SPACE THEM OUT AS BEST WE CAN”

It’s like they buy the event knowing that they’re going to discard it not long after. They’re eliminating their own competition while successfully whitewashing the music industry and killing independent venues in the process

Live nation has ruined so many festivals. Bonnaroo 2022- they had one entrance. Bodies packed against bolted down gates. So many wooks smushed together we almost became one big wook.

@marleyfacedboy – updated on Peach. They rebranded as “Peach at the Beach”

      ?s=20

Cringe. I’m glad I went to the final year of greatness.

Extra Chill Fest in the boonies when?

Damn, nice that it’s closer to NY but I think we gotta stop with the beach shows. I tried it at Phish AC ’21 but I just hate tryna boogie without sure footing beneath me and I’m not old enough to accept a beach chair.

Clutch that you got in while the getting was still good

Another one, Skull & Roses at the Ventura Fairgrounds. The location of the famous Grateful Dead concert 8/27/72 aka Sunshine Daydream. This is especially fucked up considering they aren’t doing refunds.

This email essentially says, hey, it’s 10 days out from the festival and we have no money left so uhh… sorry but the event is canceled.

Backwoods Festival – Scheduled June 6-9 2024 at Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, AZ

Really getting hard out there for anyone who isn’t affiliated with music industry corporations.

Music Midtown, Live Nation owned, is taking a hiatus in 2024. This is one that I definitely didn’t expect to see bite the dust. But, Live Nation consolidates and eliminates their own competition in the market.

My distaste for this company is so strong. Even though Music Midtown was never really my cup of tea to begin with…
