@embram I was in the process of updating it, but here’s a quote from Owsley’s own website that states the bears appeared on the album first:

I am often asked about the origin of the so-called “dancing bears” which were commonly seen around GD shows.

The little bears found in the form of stickers and stuffed dolls are taken from Bob Thomas’ album cover art.

The photo to the right shows the source of the design of the bear motif on Bear’s Choice. It is a 36 point lead type-slug of a generic bear, a standardised figure from a printer’s font of type, which particular font, I don’t know. Bob Thomas gave this one to me and said it was the inspiration for the circle of little multi-coloured marching bears on the back cover of Bear’s Choice.

I guess you may have realised by now that the bears on the album cover are not really “dancing”. I don’t know why people think they are, their positions are quite obviously those of a high-stepping march. You can also see what some people think are “bibs”, are actually a sylization of the chest fur of the bear.

This generic design has been used in several commercial logos over the years. One of the best known is the ubiquitous American company, Bear Wheel Alignment, whose logo is almost an exact duplicate of this little type-character. Bob made significant changes in the basic design when he derived it for the...

SURPRISE NEW SINGLE DROP!! This is the first song I wrote for my upcoming new album SAME DEVIL NEW SKIN. I wanted a story to sing and tell around the campfire. I wanted enough space to straddle the line between a reality, a dream and a nightmare with a chorus that was provocative enough to make the point and tie it all together…like a certain rug, lol😉. The atmosphere was, arguably, the most important part. Dark and dynamic enough to experience a growing, comfortable paranoia. Anyway, I...

T.S.U. TORONADOES – Got To Get Through To You

This is a song I’ve lived for a while now. The T.S.U. TORONADOES are most well known for being the backing band for the classic Archie Bell & The Drells famous song “Tighten Up”. The “T.S.U.” in the name stands for Texas State University, where I believe the band originated. Another important distinction to make is that it’s “Toronado” (Oldsmobile Car that was popular at the time, and not “Tornado” (the tropical storm that...

After a long feud between brothers and bandmates Liam and Noel Gallagher, they finally decided to set aside their differences for an Oasis reunion tour. Next summer they will perform 14 shows in the U.K. and Ireland. No doubt these are going to be huge and sell out very quickly.

According to Stereogum, a press release stated they have plans to travel to other continents later next year. Maybe some big U.S. dates in the Fall. Austin City Limits?

Guess it all depends how things go between the...

My pleasure. If you’re going to credit me, you can use my real name (Eric M. Bram). I like most sorts of music, though I mostly sing and play folk music. I also occasionally do research into old folk music lyrics and derivations, for example the article I wrote about the lyrics to “Wildwood Flower”/”I’ll Twine Mid the Ringlets” to which I’ve linked in my profile.

Kanye probably knew that he would get sued for posting the photos and didn’t care.

Also, it sounds like these were paparazzi photos. Why would he even want to post them? How do these photographers “own the rights” to the photos in such a way that they can sue Kanye over it?

All around it’s weird as fuck.
