I really enjoyed “The Waiting”, which premiered on Extra Chill last week. It’s cool to hear a vocalist this strong (Mauricio Masãre) coming into the Charleston scene and playing with some people who have been around a while. Love to see fresh, talented faces and collaboration around town.

I also spoke with BadJon at High Water some more about the project this weekend. He told me they record every one of their practices and it helps them dial in their sound because they can then easily reference and develop ideas that came up organically. This includes sending things back and forth with Mauricio before they come together, based off those recordings & demos.

Sounds like a great way to not only hone in on your sound but also make the most out of challenging schedules and limited rehearsal time.

For those who don’t know, Erode the Dream has been recording with Eric Rickert at Big Animal Studios on Johns Island. I stopped by the studio one day to hang out and ended up playing the jingle bells on the album.

They are also working on some music videos for their new music.

Their next show is coming up on August 24th at Tin Roof.

We are releasing our new single “Salt” on all streaming platforms on October 1st 2024. This is the lead single off our EP “Neon Nightmares” that will be released physically later this year. We also have a lyric video that we filmed ourselves for the song.

I played jingle bells on the upcoming Erode the Dream single “Becoming Ghosts”, which will be out in the first week of November, premiering on Extra Chill. They will be releasing their debut album on vinyl in December. Stay tuned for more updates.

If I had any say in the Charleston City Paper Music Awards this year, Erode the Dream would be on there under Up And Coming Musical Act of the Year.

Hell yah dude! I love how Erode the Dream is a band that sings in both English and Spanish. If anybody is looking for a cool bilingual rock band, this is definitely a band you should check out. They play grunge rock music and they do a lot of cool stuff. Their singer Maurico Masãre is from Colombia and is quite talented.
