Lone Star Beer, also known as “The National Beer of Texas” is a delicious brew that is very prominent in the fine state of Texas.
The Lone Star Brewery is in San Antonio, TX and opened in 1884.
4.6% ABV, it is a crushable beer that is often the cheapest thing on the menu at any given bar.
This is a place to appreciate Lone Star Beer, which I have always loved, as a lifetime Texan. It’s my go-to beer for any occasion, and I love it dearly.
Do you love Lone Star, too? Let’s hear about it!

My top three:
1 – “Wet Dreamz”, J. Cole, 2014 Forest Hills Drive.
My favorite conversational song of all time. This album guided me through the debut of my depression phases at 15 years old. It remains my favorite off the album. Yesterday J. Cole announced he will be playing this album front to back at MSG on December 16th for it’s 10 year anniversary. I’m already getting nauseous from the...

2- “Mercedes Benz”, Janis Joplin, Pearl.
Jesus. I just love Janis. This one gets me. On so many levels. Mostly because owning any pre 2010 Mercedes Benz would complete me. Her raspy, soulful voice makes this weird little song come together so Janis-ly. Blasting this on a good set of speakers makes me feel like I’m sitting around the fire w her in the late 60s.
3- “Denial is a River” , Doechii, Alligator Bites Never Heal
Doechiiiiiii! Holy fuck. If you haven’t gotten on the Swamp Princess wave, get on it! Doechii is an incredible artist who we’ll see win best new artist awards and who is getting an incredible and well deserved amount of recognition recently. She wrote this track from a journal entry. Ugh. The rage. The chaos. This song is an awesome depiction of navigating sexuality in early womanhood. I guess the voice she’s talking to is her journal and it’s just so fucking good. Doechii, I can’t wait to see what you do next.

in forum: AustinI’ve been in Austin almost two weeks now. I’m still getting warmed up to the way of life here, and finding work.
As a way to keep my creative juices flowing, I thought I would start a journal here.
Austin is a much bigger city than Charleston, and nobody here knows me, or Extra Chill. It’s a completely fresh environment. I live in South Austin, about 15-20 minutes from the heart of the city.
A few places I’ve gone so far:
- Nickel City – dive bar with $1 wings on Monday nights. I went here with some friends on my first night in town. I had been a few times before during my visits to Austin and it’s a cool, happening spot.
- Frazier’s Long & Low – this is a sweet dive bar with great food. Also with $1 wings on Mondays and specials throughout the week. They have a $5 burger that is absolutely dank. Pool tables, shuffle board. Cheap beer. Smells like cigarettes. Feels like home.
- Antone’s – saw SUSTO here on my first official night out as a music journalist in Austin. Wrote a review
- Violet Crown – Late night hang after the show at Antone’s. Had Jew Boy Sliders and latkes. Were delicious
- Hotel Vegas – went here for karaoke on Thanksgiving night. Someone told me that it’s the epicenter of the local music scene in Austin. I intend to spend more time at this venue, which I hung out at a ton during SXSW. ...

I also did two Bat Kayak Tours on Lady Bird Lake with Boats & Bats. This was as a potential employee and I’ll be working these tours come February, when the season kicks off again.
Outside of the music scene most of my work experience comes from tourism and boats. I’ve arrived in Austin during the slow season for tourism. In Charleston, I have a strong network in the marine industry and usually spend the winter in a boatyard. I don’t have that safety net here in Austin, so it’s very much a “find work right now” type of situation.
I met a bike taxi guide who told me they need help during the Austin Trail of Lights in Zilker Park. I may or may not get involved with this. It would be a great way to learn my way around the city.
I’ve also really been digging the Taco Truck scene in South Austin. There are several great spots within 5 minutes of where I’m living. My favorites so far have been Taco Brother and Tacos El Monches.
That’s all for now. I’ll come back and update this as I get more comfortable in this new city.
Feel free to chime in!

The news comes about a week after vocalist Kanika Moore shared on her Instagram story that she would never be working with saxophonist Mike Quinn again.
A few days later, she shared screenshots of messages between herself and Quinn. The messages were not flattering for Quinn in the slightest.
Quinn will not be present for the band’s final run of shows.

Here is the post on their Instagram:
From the post:
“Doom family,
We would like let you know that following our next shows in Richmond, Asheville, and Charleston we are taking an indefinite break.
We want to collectively extend our deepest gratitude to the fans and community that have supported us while we take some time to focus on ourselves. You are the ones that make it all happen for us and we appreciate you so much. We will be finishing out the rest of the year as a five piece without our saxophonist Mike Quinn.
While we say this with heavy hearts, our shows recently have felt like some of our best and we are excited to leave it all on the stage for you for these last few. Sometimes the best way to move forward is to take a step back.
Love,
Doom”in reply to: GooseGoose made their MSG debut at the Soulshine Benefit on Sunday.

in reply to: Train Songz Presents Podcast@lmanthegelman I agree! I’m looking forward to the next episode. I had never heard of the band before I really enjoyed the set
Thanks for joining the forum!
in reply to: GNX! 😤Favorite tracks
1. Wacced out Murals-this is the perfect intro. He basically condensed his purpose for every song into one and went crazy
2. Luther-sickest Luther sample I’ve heard this decade
3. of course, Heart Pt 6 -the classic continuation of the original ‘Heart Pt’
in reply to: Train Songz Presents PodcastHell yea!! great listen
in reply to: GNX! 😤Now that it’s been out for a few days, what do you think are the best tracks? I’m still listening through it myself.
How about the best feature? I love how there are two SZA features.
