I just started listening to this band again

I will be attending Goose’s NYE run in Austin, TX not long after I move there. 12/30 and 12/31
My one hope for this band is that they start to change up their performance a little more. Go off the deep end a bit. To me, listening to these shows on Bandcamp, there isn’t that much of a sonic difference between each one. I’d love to see some more variation in the sound.
Still enjoy the band of course. That’s just my two cents.

Just discovered this one via “Camping” on Spotify Discover weekly. Just came out a month ago and seems interesting!
in reply to: Evil At My Heels – A Collection of Poetry@mindwater thank you! Hope you enjoy them. Appreciate you for being here in this community and engaging with us. You the man!
I’d love to keep getting back into poetry as I get older. It’s such a nice way to decompress and make sense of things in your mind. And then you have something to go back and read as a reminder of where you’ve been and how far you’ve come.
in reply to: Die Spitz – Austin, TX (Punk / Metal)@timayarlay dude hell yeah! That is one of the first bands I saw when I was in town and they ripped. So much so that it inspired me to start this thread a few months ago. Glad you’re on that wave too!
in reply to: Mister Morning – Lexington, SC (Lofi / Indie Pop)@Mister-Morning Congrats! that is super dope. Hope it continues to rise!

in reply to: The History and Meaning of the Grateful Dead Bears@embram I actually did end up giving it an update!
in reply to: The History and Meaning of the Grateful Dead Bears@embram I was in the process of updating it, but here’s a quote from Owsley’s own website that states the bears appeared on the album first:
I am often asked about the origin of the so-called “dancing bears” which were commonly seen around GD shows.
The little bears found in the form of stickers and stuffed dolls are taken from Bob Thomas’ album cover art.
The photo to the right shows the source of the design of the bear motif on Bear’s Choice. It is a 36 point lead type-slug of a generic bear, a standardised figure from a printer’s font of type, which particular font, I don’t know. Bob Thomas gave this one to me and said it was the inspiration for the circle of little multi-coloured marching bears on the back cover of Bear’s Choice.
I guess you may have realised by now that the bears on the album cover are not really “dancing”. I don’t know why people think they are, their positions are quite obviously those of a high-stepping march. You can also see what some people think are “bibs”, are actually a sylization of the chest fur of the bear.
This generic design has been used in several commercial logos over the years. One of the best known is the ubiquitous American company, Bear Wheel Alignment, whose logo is almost an exact duplicate of this little type-character. Bob made significant changes in the basic design when he derived it for the album.
So, if what you said is true, then it is possible that Owsley may not have wanted to publicly admit that his LSD was the source of the bears?
in reply to: Brett Nash AppreciationLooking forward to my second Band of Horses Brett Nash experience this coming Friday night at Firefly Distillery. They’re co-headlining with City and Colour.
Brett recently performed at Extra Chill Fest with both Hotel Hugo and Dear Blanca. Now, three weeks later, he returns for a show with Band of Horses.
The juxtaposition is just incredible. Brett is the man.
