In theory it looks cool .. but a true “jaded vet” would understand that convenience of a card that fits in their wallet is way better than a giant foam pleasure tool..jk ..

in reply to: What Are You Listening To Right Now?In honor of the first SUSTO album turning 10 years old this week, this is one of my favorite SUSTO videos. “Smoking Outside” was the first song of theirs I heard and I’ve been a big fan ever since.
I especially like it because my friends Corey and Jenna from Babe Club were in the band at the time and look how young they are. We’re the same age, so this is also a reminder of how fast time really goes.
SUSTO has been a pivotal band in the history of Extra Chill and it all started when “Smoking Outside” came on my Spotify Discover weekly one day not long before the Summer Shindig took place in the Royal American parking lot, summer 2016....

in forum: Music DiscussionI love finding these treasure troves of information from Deadheads on the internet. I think it’s pretty awesome how deeply rooted the Dead are in the early days of the web, even down to the guys at Stanford who were literally building the early internet that used it to share Dead setlists.
Here are some that I know about and frequent, in no particular order:
The Annotated Grateful Dead Lyrics – by David Dodd. Fascinating discussion about Grateful Dead lyrics. Used as a resource for every one of my Dead song meaning posts on the main blog...

deaddisc.com – Grateful Dead family discography
rukind.com – Grateful Dead forum
voodoonola (YouTube) – regularly shares Dead soundboards, tapes, videos, etc from all decades. lots of interesting comments
Chime in and I’ll come back when I think of others! I know there are a few good blogs that I’m leaving off that I can’t think of right now, which is why I made this thread in the first place.

in forum: Music DiscussionAnother band that I really can’t get enough of… I am proud to say that I was in attendance for the Chicago run in 2021 that was given an official release. I got to go with four of my best friends from college and we had a crazy weekend.
That live album has been in full rotation lately but especially the last song, “Phone Went West.”
This is top level My Morning Jacket in my opinion, but if you want to go even harder the Dondante from that same show is over 20 minutes long
Anyway, this...

in reply to: What Are You Listening To Right Now?I saw Kanika Moore sing this at Charleston Pour House with Noah Jones, Jeff Caldwell, Ben Mossman, and Oleg Terentiev. Absolutely sick. Opening for Runaway Gin’s 10th Anniversary weekend. This song is awesome

We are huge fans of Grateful Dead here at Extra Chill .. Shakedown Street is one of the most iconic songs by The Dead, and anyone who’s ever been to a Jam Band shown knows that Shakedown Street is the name for the section of the lot where travelling fans buy and sell food, booze, stickers, weed, etc ..But when my brother and I started traveling for Phish concerts, there was no StubHub.. So we would go to shows in other city’s on blind faith hoping we’d score tickets.. Some shows were easier than others. One of the understood “signals” of needing or looking for tickets was holding your hand up with one finger in the air .. signaling that you “needed one ticket”.. At some point “heads” started holding up UNO cards instead of a finger, signaling that they “needed one ticket” .. So, if you ever see an UNO Card on “SHAKEDOWN STREET”, you now know what it means.
in reply to: The Jerry ThreadThat one’s an all-timer. Gotta be this Mississippi Half-Step for me. Has a little more pep in its step coming out of EotW
