My first official update is that with the introduction of the forum, we are suspending the New Music Radar writeups. Instead, we will update the playlist twice a month, without writeups. We will also engage directly with artists & others in the community.
We will update around the 15th and the final week of each month. The playlist will be updated by one of us who sources additions from each person who wants to add something to it. We will handle the selections and surrounding discussion in the private forum here.
This is shifting into a volunteer role for the team. Meaning that you are not required to actively submit to the playlist but are encouraged to, as well as encouraged to participate in the community.
This also means that whatever you get paid for the NMR will be diverted into other tasks or types of content which we will discuss individually. Don’t worry, I am not trying to cut anybody’s pay, but I am trying to free up resources so we can do more fun and creative stuff and less repetitive things. The structure might change from the same thing every month to a more variable number based on what you did that month. We will discuss this separately as well.

Best country love song of all time? I wrote an essay about it a few months back on the main blog. Noah Kahan sings this one too but Isbell is the one who wrote it, and to have written a song like this places you pretty high in my personal rankings of songwriters.
I love Sierra Ferrell. This is a cover of country legend John Anderson’s 2020 song “Years.” It’s better than the original in my opinion. What a well-written song about the universal experience of getting older.
