in reply to: Tame Impala selling all his music to Sony
I think he’s got good faith in the hands of sony. You’re right on the money about the movie soundtracks- which he’s been punching out a bunch of.
Ever since he sold his music, he’s been exploring other avenues such as selling instruments, running a fashion line, and chilling/being cool.
i guess to ballpark a number (considering pink floyd sold their catalog for 400million to sony), I’m gonna take a stab and say somewhere around 300million.
kind of currents ethos lol
in reply to: High Water 2025the only thing that mattered to me was julien baker closing her set out with jason molina’s “farewell transmission”
got a free ticket so i went Saturday but honestly- the booking’s embarrassing- especially considering the amazing week of music that lead up to it.
Anyway- least we got dog daze to look forward to.
“Kahlua Shooter / DUI Scooter” might just be the best couplet o’ 2024. Mark Twang.
in reply to: Royal American Bootleg Collectionthis is incredible Wes. Just relistened through the whole FATHURDAY set and feel like I was thrown through a time loop.
34 mins on Cannon Rogers’ set has an excellent cover of “Jolene” FYI.in reply to: Brett Nash AppreciationI remember at the first Dawning show when Brett introduced the band and gave a little speech about Charleston and the state of everything. It was really special moment at Cutty’s. Bro has great taste in music.

Changed the thread title.
You want to take a trip down memory lane? Check out this article I did on Joey’s pre-Cry Baby band, Butterfly. Way back in 2017 (!).

Smooth, brilliant, entrancing, and addicting all come to mind when attempting to pin words to this masterwork from Marcus Brown. It’s so soulful and danceable, the opening 3 track run is easily one of the best 3 track runs of last year. It’s a little bit front-loaded but it awesome all the way through. As fresh as it gets in the year of our lord 2023. Following the success of this record, Marcus Brown signed to XL records.
Favorite Tracks: “Quantum Suicide,” “Shed That Fear,” “Daddy,” “The Fields,” and “Workers Interlude”Their 2024 release Catching Chickens EP is easily one of the best pieces of music to come out this year! Peak!
“Hell of a Ride” and “Poison-Soaked” are SOTY contenders (both in my top 5 so far).in reply to: Cry Baby – Brooklyn, NY (Rock Band)UPDATE: Cry Baby are no longer a boy band and are now a rock band
