Calling all Charleston stoners: What is the craziest place you’ve smoked weed?
I have a few…
- On top of the Calhoun monument (2011)
- in a tree at the battery
- on the dock next to the Harbor Pilot house
We also used to sit on the corner of Vanderhorst and St. Phillips street and pack bowls. Did lots of questionable things as a college kid.
in reply to: How to Become an Artist Manager?I’ve had a lot of experience with this over the years, and I’d like to echo what SG said. Getting involved in the scene is the first step to becoming a manager. Simply by going to shows with the presence of mind to know that you want to work in the music industry, take time to observe.
Pick out the people who are working at a show and see what they’re up to. You can usually tell because many people will just be hanging out with their friends, but the working people will be focused on...

Pick out the people who are working at a show and see what they’re up to. You can usually tell because many people will just be hanging out with their friends, but the working people will be focused on something a lot of the time. Those are the things you’d be focused on as a manager.
I’d start with a smaller band to get some practice personally. Take a percentage sure, but really try to learn as much as you can.
Also, if you aren’t already used to sending and receiving lots of emails. Get used to it.
in reply to: Cocaine in CharlestonCocaine has been around Charleston for a long time. I remember back in the 80s or 90s they confiscated a local shrimp boat that was smuggling drugs into Charleston. They were making a ton of money doing that because this city has always been a total party town.
Nowadays I wouldn’t touch the stuff. Too much mixed in there and I hear it’s no good anymore anyways. Y’all don’t know what you missed in the 80s when we would get a good batch of stuff off one of them shrimp boats. Hooooo boy!

I haven’t touched it in probably close to 30 years, now. I’m way too old now.
in reply to: Union Pier Redevelopment PlanMaybe they will put another nice restaurant over there. I’ll be happy to have a place to drink an overpriced beer and look out over the harbor without having to wait an hour for a table at Fleet Landing.
in reply to: P Diddy ConspiraciesI also heard that he had hidden cameras in every single room of his house. And then he would have these parties….
I think this is a deep, dark story that has layers the general public will never know about
in reply to: Alanis Morissette vs. Sheryl CrowAbsolutely cannot wait to see Alanis Morissette vs. Sheryl Crow at the Music Farm next Friday night
in reply to: Phish – MondegreenI was hoping to trunk wook my way in with @chubes. Guess that isn’t an option. Dang it technology!
in reply to: LOLA (Restaurant)I tried to go there last week but unfortunately they are closed on Sundays. I trust that if you took the time to recommend it then it’s probably freaking awesome. I’ll eventually get over there to check it out
in forum: Music DiscussionLook, as an artist, especially a rapper, I love the competitive edge that exists in hip hop. Beef has been the source of some of the greatest hip hop songs of all time: “Hit Em Up”, “No Vaseline”, “Ether”, “Piggy Bank”, just to name a few. It’s entertaining and adds a sort of edge that forces listeners to read deeper into the music than sometimes intended. Look, as an artist, especially a rapper, I love the competitive edge that exists in hip hop. Which, is kiiiind of a good thing because it’s making average listeners tune in a little deeper to the levels of lyricism and structure that exists in rap music. But I digress, I feel Kendrick took those jabs to separate himself from the ‘tripod’ that Drake and J Cole are embracing. Though they may indeed be the ‘BIG 3′ of active living legends in modern hip hop, that competitive edge has officially kicked in for the enigmatic Kendrick Lamar. I don’t see this as a diss, but more as a direct,’Im am THE rap God’ type of situation. The only thing I hate is that he initiated it, which gives Drake and J Cole time to strategize a freggin’ Kahmehameha. But Kung Fu Kenny and TDE with Metro Boomin is a left-field collab we didn’t know we needed. And I hate to be a plebian, but I feel lyrically Kendrick will dominate both Cole and Drake. They are masters of wordplay, punchlines, flows but in a smooth punchy way. Kendrick is relentless lyrically-the delivery, vocal flucuations, manipulation of the english language..likes that can only be toppled by the GOAT WeezyF Baby. But thats a discussion for another day
in forum: Music DiscussionDope Hip-hop, house edm vibe from the homie BadTalks. He’s got some cool OG Mac Miller-esque vibes
in forum: Music DiscussionAfter almost a year hiatus, Charleston’s living legend Long Money Phil returns with a surprise EP drop and music video to end the 1st quarter of the month. If you aren’t familiar with Long Money Phil, he’s one of Charleston’s most popular, ‘tried and true’ native rappers that has an actual industry buzz. He’s a beacon of Charleston Trap music, which may not be everyone’s bag, but when its done raw and well, it’s #GXLDAPPROVED!! Check him out!

in reply to: Phish – MondegreenDamn PartyBoyGEasy in the house! You know it’s gonna be a good time. I still haven’t Sat down to look at everything, so I don’t have a plan yet at all. I think we are gonna try to film a bunch of content and maybe do some interviews etc.
in reply to: Phish – MondegreenI’m in – I have an extra GA Parking pass (needed to reserve a campsite) bc my crew bought too many – if anyone needs it I’ll ship it for free and you will save some money. With an extra 20 bucks you can get in a day early with the car camping and get in on the speculation of whether the sound check will be open to the public. Wristbands are also required to get in unless you hide your friend in the bed of your truck and they aren’t searching for trunk wooks
