in reply to: Tame Impala selling all his music to SonyYou know, I’ve thought about this for a while since you posted it and came close to responding a few times.
I think it was definitely a lot of money. A LOT of money, for sure. He’s one of the most successful artists of the past decade.
It could be for any number of reasons. One thing is for certain, he will never have to work another day in his life. I do think he will continue to release music.

It’s tough for anyone to say what they would do in his position. He did create the music, and selling the rights to it doesn’t take that away from him. It probably helps a lot with managing it. Also will result in Tame Impala’s music being used in more movies and stuff down the line.
What do you think about it?
in reply to: cool vids of trains and bands playing train songsI came across this one on my Spotify Discover weekly playlist

in reply to: Kendrick Lamar ‘Diss’Here’s an article from ABC documenting the whole thing: https://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory/after-drake-battle-kendrick-lamar-turns-victory-lap-111267244
And a quote from the article:
“Let the world see this,” he said. “You ain’t seen this many sections on one stage keeping it together and having peace. … For all of us to be on this stage together, unity, from East side … LA, Crips, Bloods, Piru — this … is special, man. We put this … together just for ya’ll.

“This … ain’t got nothing to do with no song at this point, ain’t got nothing to do with no back and forth records, it’s got everything to do with this moment right here. That’s what this … was about, to bring all of us together.”
After the final song, Lamar exited, saying “I promise you this won’t be the last of us.” The stabbing horns of the “Not Like Us” instrumental kicked in once again and the crowd rapped the lyrics without Lamar as they filed through hallways out to the parking lot. The Twitch and Prime Video livestream concluded.
in reply to: Kendrick Lamar ‘Diss’Here’s a theory: Tyler, The Creator dropped off Lollapalooza (8/1 to 8/3) and Outside Lands (8/9 to 8/11) the morning after this show.
Given the success of Kendrick’s show last night, I would not be surprised to see an announcement from the Kendrick Lamar camp that includes Tyler around that time.
in reply to: Kendrick Lamar ‘Diss’Streaming Kendrick Lamar’s “The Pop Out: Ken & Friends” at the Forum in LA right now. Free on Amazon Prime. He just brought out Dr. Dre and did “Still D.R.E.” and 2pac’s “California Love” and then Dr. Dre said “I see dead people” to introduce “Not Like Us.” Kendrick did the “certified lover boy — certified pedophile” / “tryina strike a chord and it’s probably A-Minor” verse three times and then did the full song.

What a wild experience it must be to be at this show. He’s also brought out tons of other special guests including Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, J. Rock, and more.
This is really sick. And all these rappers are co-signing “Not Like Us” indirectly by being part of this event.
Kendrick Lamar is in my opinion cementing himself as one of the greatest rappers of all time, if not the single greatest.
Update: He did “Not Like Us” a fourth time
Update 2: Five times

in reply to: The Gimp – image ManipulationWell, at least you’ll know how it works for the next time you need it! 🙂
But yes, unless the text in the layer remains editable… ie, hasn’t been “flattened” then just replacing it would be the way to go.
what’s good Extra Chill just dropped a new song HUMAN BEHAVIOR a couple days ago and wanted to share it here.
hope everyone enjoys it <3
in reply to: Brett Nash Appreciation“Classic Banter” by Secret Guest is one of the greatest achievements of Brett Nash’s career to date. Just amazing, incredible stuff.
Also, how about the fact that the band is called Secret Guest? I have always loved that. People who don’t know them see Secret Guest on the lineup and think there is going to be somebody famous or something. Then it turns out to those guys. Lol.

in reply to: New Music 2024New track from Human Resources, their first one since last year. This comes in advance of their upcoming set at Rose Moon Festival at LO-Fi Brewing next Saturday, June 22nd. Indie pop.
Self-produced by the band and mixed by drummer @coastrecords
They said there is more on the way. If I remember correctly, they’ve been cooking up a new album, which will be the follow-up to Champagne from 2018. That album has a lot of music scene nostalgia for me personally and I’m sure many others around here....
