Greetings,
We’re CARLS, from Charleston, SC. Below is our first single, “Dale, Wisconsin” out on all streaming platforms today. It’s a quirky rock song about the vitality of cultural discourse and diversity of thought. It also has several swears, odd mentions of a certain NY Times economist, some group na na na’s and a ripping guitar solo.
Give it a spin and let us know what you think.
Feel free to be effusively complimentary, completely unmoved or wholly dismissive. The world is your oyster. You do you.
Cheers,
CARLS

Liking this a lot. Thanks for sharing. Where was it recorded? I like how you described it. 😉

Thanks! Basic tracking was done at Coast Records with the always excellent Matt Zutell engineering. Overdubbing and extra production was done at home (modern recording technology is the best). Then everything was sent back to Matt for mixing. Matthew Garber at For the Record Mastering handled mastering. Big shout to both of those guys! They do really great work. Highly recommend!

@carls oh yeah love both of those guys! good buddies of ours!
thanks again for being one of the first people to post here. You helped me get proof of concept and fine tune things!
Cheers, this will be on our New Music Radar playlist this week!

New CARLS out today.
Big ass groove and a bigger chorus. Lyrically, its about all the silly shit you can do if you have money.
More singles coming and shows and parties coming up summer and fall. Stay tuned!
What silliness would you get into if you had a lot of cash?

New song dropping any time soon, CARL!?
-
I, too, would like to know about new CARLS!

3 Weeeeeeks. “Cheese” hits all platforms on 7/31.
It’s a love song.
Somewhat about cheese.

Dude, just wanna say I’ve been listening to this stuff. It’s dope. I love how it brings the same sort of vibes as early 80s new-wave/mod revival. Good stuff. Dale, Wisconsin is my favorite so far.
-
Holy shit, thank you so much! That’s really awesome to hear and thank you for listening!
Below is our newest one, Cheese. Just came out this week. Believe it or not, it’s kind of a love song. Bringing your man or lady some cheese is about as true as love gets. Hope the folks around here dig it!
Upcoming Charleston Shows

Good day to you Community. We have a new single out this week. It’s called Irrational Confidence. It’s about being really good a parallel parking and other various humble brags of import. It also has some pretty rad keyboard tones from a thrift store synth we picked up years ago. Hope you dig it!
I should note that we have a bunch of shows we’ll be announcing soon. So there’s that.

Big thanks to Coast Records for the (as always) marvelous mixing!
Also, huge shout out to Holy City Booking and Frequency Fest*. As the excellent EC article covered, this whole endeavor is incredibly cool and a marvelous addition to our fair city. We implore anyone reading this to go check it out. Hear some scuzzy power chords, drink a shitty beer and yell with a stranger. It’s what what makes life worth living.
*Unfortunately, due to some unavoidable scheduling conflicts, CARLS had to drop from our spot on Saturday at the Garden. But a few of us will still be there to partake (and potentially repeatedly request that someone play some Creedence).
Also, also, a big fuck yeah to Chris Garner and Grilled Cheese for the weekly videos they’re doing. Tremendous. Just Tremendous.
Okay, that’s it.
Be excellent to each other.
