in reply to: Extra Chill Fest 2024
I could see if any 1770 bands were interested if you want. Tree Limbs or Colors in Corduroy maybe.
in reply to: Interviews About LSD & LSD ChemistsAnother one with an LSD dealer… this guy also says that it changed his life to see the Grateful Dead on acid
in reply to: Interviewing Ryan Stasik about Death KingsSharing my pre-interview notes here, as a reference for any writers who need inspiration for interview questions… i might share this in the main area after i actually do the interview… This is what i will be staring at when i talk to him in a couple hours and its ultimately the foundation for my upcoming article Death Kings Ryan “Little King” Stasik – bass, vocals – Umphreys McGee, Doom Flamingo Uncle Mike “Muerto” Gantzer – guitar, lead vox – Aqueous Mikey “Ox” Carubba – TurkuazSharing my pre-interview notes here, as a reference for any writers who need inspiration for interview questions… i might share this in the main area after i actually do the interview… This is what i will be staring at when i talk to him in a couple hours and its ultimately the foundation for my upcoming article Death Kings Ryan “Little King” Stasik – bass, vocals – Umphreys McGee, Doom Flamingo Uncle Mike “Muerto” Gantzer – guitar, lead vox – Aqueous Mikey “Ox” Carubba – Turkuaz Origins Formed during the pandemic, self-titled debut dropped about 2 years ago on Valentine’s Day (2022). Still feels pretty fresh – you have lots of other stuff going on. Have played probably about a dozen shows so far? A few times at the Windjammer last year, a few UM afterparties, and then a Pour House show on a Tuesday night September 2023 Want to tell the story of the band, how did the three of y’all meet and get the idea to collaborate? Recording the self-titled debut – where done, writing process To me it sounds like y’all had a blast recording it. Blowing off steam caused by the pandemic? I know there is some heavier influence in UM, Aqueous, in general What’s in mind for the future? Have you been writing any more for this project? Anything else you want to mention?in reply to: The Jerry Thread“Jack Straw” 10/20/84 – absolutely rips. I listened to this whole show and Bobby seems pretty pissed off. The “take a step back” is rather aggressive. This is the set one closer. Really gets going. I love 80s dead for shit like this
Side note: reading archive.org comments on Dead shows is one of my favorite pastimes

I like Mantra as one of the final two bands, also like Hotel Hugo… another one I like is Sherwood’s Florist but they might be better for one of our Tuesday night things (SG I know you also mentioned Hounds, they would be a good Tuesday nighter as well)…
Lot still up in the air, because I also like Slim & MoonKatDaddy (both PoHo employees like Duplex) and still have to book an opener for TWEN on 6/9
Feel free to chime in
in reply to: What Are You Listening To Right Now?Pretty cool to be making music like that at 70
in forum: Extra Chill TeamRoss hit me up to collab on that Wolf Mask / Death Kings show at Pour House and it has led me into an interview with Ryan Stasik.
Ross is the man. He also connected me with the editors of Relix around the holidays so we’re on their radar. They said they liked my writing and I just missed my window of opportunity to land a gig with them.
Stasik is my most high profile interview so far, and if I do a good job this could really open some more doors for Extra Chill in the world of jam bands....

Anyway just wanted to share it with the crew. I’m excited about this itself but also what could come from all this
in reply to: sunnbrella – London, UK (Shoegaze)one cool fact about sunnbrella is that he plays guitar all over eyedress’ discography including the hit song “jealous”
in reply to: sunnbrella – London, UK (Shoegaze)you can also read up on the London shoegazer’s 2023 album, Heartworn, below.

in forum: Music DiscussionSparks fly on sunnbrella’s newest Valentine’s Day single, “have your say.” With 3 minutes and 40 seconds to work with, the song darts through breakbeats and bursts of guitar. These breakaways are blissful and feel so fitting to the track’s motion throughout. As we approach the end, ”have your say” coalesces into a storm of washed out shoegaze sounds and angelic vocals. A perfect soundtrack for any futuristic city free-running you may get up to
It also might be worth mentioning...

in forum: Music DiscussionGoing to SXSW this year with the intention to write a review about my experience. I’ve been to Austin but I don’t really know what I’m getting myself into with SXSW. Heard its dope, and will definitely be soaking up as much as I can and meeting as many new people as I can.
I’ll be writing about it here and on the main blog. Just getting this going for now.
Will be in Austin, TX March 10 – 17

I think so? The time stamp was off (one of them should read 11:15) but I did get 2:
- chubes mentioned you in “Feature Requests” -2024-02-07 23:17:23
- chubes mentioned you in “Feature Requests” -2024-02-07 23:17:10
Also I tried dropping an image of this from my desktop but couldn’t. Uploading pics might need to become a necessity unless my morning brain just isn’t able to figure it out rn
I actually have this really crazy idea…
Which is making a plugin that automatically uploads images to Imgur and then brings them back here to post. Giving the illusion of uploading without actually taking up space on my server.
It’s in the think tank....

This plugin is going to be done probably by the end of the long weekend. Which will allow image uploads on the blog via the imgur api, very simply and easily and intuitively
in reply to: Developer LogArtist Introductions board added as a place for artists to introduce themselves.
I created it because it pairs nicely with the new music board.
Soon, I will work on the Profiles. Fan profile is working pretty good so far but I’d like to make Artist and Industry Professional profiles be these useful things that could serve in addition to or as a portal to the actual website. Even in place of it if you really wanted…
More on that later… but I added the board on this date at this time

in reply to: Developer LogI’m still coming up with all sorts of ideas to increase engagement around here. Currently the goal is to figure out how to get some of the thousands of visitors to the main blog each day to come over here and hang out with us on a regular basis. Increasing the visibility of the Community on the main blog is key for this and the Community Activity feed should help
It has some cache issues in that it doesn’t show up fresh for people not logged in which I have to figure out how to resolve...

It has some cache issues in that it doesn’t show up fresh for people not logged in which I have to figure out how to resolve without slowing the site down too much.
But, if you’re logged in (which should now also last for 6 months), you should see a fresh and up-to-date community activity feed in the sidebar of the main blog. At the very bottom of the page on a phone.
Cheers!
in forum: Music DiscussionThese Band of Horses shows with She Returns From War at the Ryman in Nashville seemed pretty cool from what I saw on people’s Instagram stories (shout out @betweenthesoundmachine ).
Specifically, She Returns From War coming out during “Neon Moon” looked like a real hoot. But I’m sure the rest was great.
Band of Horses are awesome and that’s before they had Brett Nash. With Brett in the band they’ve become one of my favorites in the soft/medium indie rock category.

I thought it was really cool that the other guys from the band came to hang out at Royal American when Brett played a show there after BoH’s set at that country music festival I can’t even remember the name of this past fall…
The Ryman seems like such a cool spot, and I really dig that Live at the Ryman record they put out recently.
Anyone got a source on a tape? I dug up one video on Youtube of “The Funeral.” And it’s rad.
