Oh yeah. Primus on tour with Coheed & Cambria. No Coheed on the Charleston date but going to be an awesome show at the Hall
in reply to: Noah Jones – Charleston, SCHell yeah brother! Noah Jones is a Charleston treasure. I’ve loved watching him evolve over the past few years and now he’s widely recognized as one of the most talented people to call Charleston home. Well deserved.
Every time he’s on the stage the collective talent is elevated, and its clear that all the musicians also love playing with him. He can write songs, he can improvise, and he has fun doing it.
This song is awesome, can’t wait to hear more.
in reply to: Noah Jones – Charleston, SChe totally says “bury your heart” and I misheard it 😐
anyways— bravo Noah Jones

The track opens with eerily comforting harmonies and a dazzle of keys before a funky drum beat sets the song to motion.
Within the chamber of keys and swirling psychs, Jones sings, “get a job, pay your taxes, and marry your heart.” He manages to make the mundane sound anything but, and there’s a kernel of wisdom amidst the Wonder-esque callbacks and other signature sounds from The Psycodelics.
As the track builds and blends, we’re showered with an array of diverse instrumentation from interesting percussion to strange synths. You can get lost in it all as Jones sings, “People come and they go / cogs in the machine.” He continues, “see what matters to most / doesn’t matter at all to me.”
It’s a brilliant beginning to what I hope is a long journey and I’m eager to see what’s next for the young artist. “Taxes” has only been out a day, and I’ve had it in heavy rotation- adding up to a dozen plays already. I have a hard time believing I’ll ever get tired of it- the chorus melody shares the lightest resemblance to the timeless track “Killing Me Softly With His Song”- so yeah, I don’t think this track’s ever gonna lose its luster.

EDIT
I have decided that we’re gonna go with direct uploads. Thinking back to olden internet days and Photobucket has me thinking that using Imgur may not be the best long term solution. I’ll just have to buck up and optimize the F out of the uploads and hope we make enough money to cover the rising server costs as this place grows!
Image uploads are currently the #1 priority item on my list

They have made their underground circuits the premiere mix in these areas , and have come together to turn them into funnels for artists to really pop out of the city. There’s so much unconscious segregation in charleston hip hop, but i slowly see it starting to shift. Things like Cultura coming back in to the yearly circuit of hip hop festivals, has definitely added to that sauce. Hip hop is everywhere in Charleston now, from DT to Summerville, its receiving engagement like never before. However, we have to keep it special and not oversaturate the system with it-this is where that intention plays its part

in reply to: Extra Chill Fest 2024We are good on bands for now but thank you. I like to wait on the early daytime slots because most bands will say yes at that level so I can zip it up in like a day after I know the headliner. So I’m being calculated about who I ask because I’m running out of room.
Tree Limbs kicked the fest off last year and they were great.
Zack Mexico as the headliner is really just going to melt the walls of that place. They’re like the best underground band that I’m aware of. Really hoping they...
