I agree with your assessment about Noah Kahan’s set. Based on the large crowd, I also had hopes that it would be good. His performance did not capture me and I now believe he is overrated.

As for him being a Chinese operative, I really have nothing to say about that. You crazy bastards.

This is unfortunate, however, it seems less like they were purposely ripping you off and more like the person who made the decision to name the beer Extra Chill knows nothing about the SC music scene and has never heard of Extra Chill. Y’all are growing, but you are not something like Rolling Stone where you would be recognized by beer makers in Atlanta or corporate stiffs at Tilray HQ.

Just because some artists playing 420 festival are your friends and you book shows at bars that carry Sweetwater products does not mean that they know who you are. I say this as an old man with a lot of experience.

That said, doing the right thing still implies an acknowledgement of Extra Chill in Charleston in some way.

Cocaine has been around Charleston for a long time. I remember back in the 80s or 90s they confiscated a local shrimp boat that was smuggling drugs into Charleston. They were making a ton of money doing that because this city has always been a total party town.

Nowadays I wouldn’t touch the stuff. Too much mixed in there and I hear it’s no good anymore anyways. Y’all don’t know what you missed in the 80s when we would get a good batch of stuff off one of them shrimp boats. Hooooo boy!

I haven’t touched it in probably close to 30 years, now. I’m way too old now.

Maybe they will put another nice restaurant over there. I’ll be happy to have a place to drink an overpriced beer and look out over the harbor without having to wait an hour for a table at Fleet Landing.

Love JJ Cale. Here is him and Clapton doing “After Midnight” and “Call Me The Breeze”

I was not familiar with Noah Kahan until I saw the lineup for High Water festival this year. I don’t do TikTok. Facebook and classic forums are enough for me.

I’ve gone to High Water with my wife every year since they started it, and it’s a good way for us to see a lot of popular artists in one day, so I never have any complaints about the lineup. When you get old, you take what you can get for a nice weekend with the missus. I don’t get to go to many of the late night concerts at places like the Royal American or Charleston Pour House because I’m just too old. High Water is a good balance for us, although sometimes the days can be quite long.

I listened to the Stick Season record and I found it to be pleasant enough. I’ll have to side with Suzie and heaven scent on this one. Noah Kahan does not suck.

Y’all would have never noticed that Neil Young wasn’t on Spotify if you had been like a true music fan and bought the records. I’ve proudly worn out three different copies of On the Beach since 1974.

Which, by the way, turns 50 years old this summer.

For the Charleston folks reading, I know they carry at least a few Neil Young records at Monster Music in West Ashley.

My wife and I attended the Rip City event at Silver Hill Studio last month and we laughed our hearts out. I for one love to see that Charleston is beginning to develop a stronger comedy presence. We need more laughs in the Holy City! Keep up the good work!
