My buddy @qrisg put me on to JJ Cale last year and I’ve become a big fan ever since. He wrote a couple of songs that Eric Clapton later made famous including “Cocaine” and “After Midnight.” Jerry G also played “After Midnight.” He also wrote songs that Widespread Panic & Billy Strings made jam band famous like “Ride Me High,” and some others you’re sure to recognize.

This is place to discuss JJ Cale and share his music. Songs he wrote that other artists covered are fair game here too. Because why not?

If you haven’t listened to him, you’ve obviously gotta start with the originals of “After Midnight” and “Cocaine.” And then, check out the whole Naturally album. If you’re not a fan after that, there’s just no hope for you.

Here’s one of my favorite J.J. Cale videos to watch on YouTube

I want to give a shout out to Jim Rubush and the boys here in Charleston that put on their J.J. Cale tribute shows. I’ve seen a couple of them and those guys really do the music justice.

I agree. Those dudes do a great job. I’ve seen that tribute three times now and I’ll see it again the next time they do it. Honestly it was right before that when you showed me JJ Cale in the first place.

Love JJ Cale. Here is him and Clapton doing “After Midnight” and “Call Me The Breeze”
