So I’ve been doing my first run through of all of Live Trax to pad out my bearings on Dave and this track really stood out. @chubes I think you’re really gonna appreciate this build.

in reply to: SXSW 2024Two more days left in Austin. I’ve set the wheels in motion to be living here by October or November. The opportunities for someone like me in this city are very, very clear to me at this point.
Yesterday I lost my notebook (must have fallen out of my pocket) and had basically a full-fledged panic attack thinking I would lose everything I had written down all week.
I retraced my steps, speed-walking almost two miles from Halcyon Coffee to Hotel Vegas, and was massively relieved to find that...

Yesterday I lost my notebook (must have fallen out of my pocket) and had basically a full-fledged panic attack thinking I would lose everything I had written down all week.
I retraced my steps, speed-walking almost two miles from Halcyon Coffee to Hotel Vegas, and was massively relieved to find that the door guy had my notebook. It had been probably about 2 hours, and I noticed it was missing when I reached in my bag to note that Halcyon was an awesome coffee shop.
Best sets yesterday:
Colatura @ Lazarus Brewing
Reyna Tropical @ Hotel Vegas (She Shreds Fundraiser)
Spencer Thomas @ Lambert’s
Rose Hotel @ Lambert’s
Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country @ Antone’s
Brainstory @ Antone’s
In general, Antone’s has the best sound out of any venue I’ve been to in Austin so far. The Daniel Donato set there had a way better mix than the one at Empire.
Pretty awesome sets there last night. I’ve heard from people around here that Antone’s is known for their sound. It’s a really nice system and they had a crisp mix for all sets I saw.
in reply to: Willin’Thanks, George. Had never heard this one before.
I’m assuming you’re referring to my article, about the meaning of Little Feat’s “Willin'” and thus i have updated the post to include the cover you mentioned.
Here it is for any fans of “Willin'”

in reply to: General Team CommunicationLike not interfere with other bands playing at other venues? That and it’d be a great way to help touring /local bands build bills. I know I certainly could use that when booking.
Reading comments about Lowwell George’s signature song and the opinions of the various covers thereof, I feel compelled to opine that Seatrain’s version is far and away the best.

in reply to: Neil Young Going Back on SpotifyI am also a big Neil Young fan and very glad to hear that he’s going back on Spotify. He’s a grumpy old man but he’s written some very beautiful songs.
in forum: The Back BarAside from a possible money making opportunity for investors, Reddit’s IPO is an overall bad thing for the internet & freedom of speech. Reddit is currently in the top 20 biggest websites on the internet (per Wikipedia as of Jan 2024), and now it is essentially turning its users into a commodity.
There is a lot to unpack here, especially when you consider the Google investment of $60 million in exchange for training their AI on Reddit data. This screams corruption and bad news to me.

Google already has control over much of the internet, and this partnership is insidious in a few ways. For one, Google is also boosting Reddit’s search rankings to drive more popularity to the site, perhaps as part of their partnership deal, but also to generate more data for their AI model.
This is hurting small publishers in a lot of different ways, but aside from that, it’s easy to see how Google could essentially own Reddit and then artificially inflate it and make tons of money off ads, investors, and the whole nine yards. It’s just an insane thing that should not be legal, yet it is happening in real time.
Perhaps it’s time for a new competitor to rise up and take over Google’s market share. I am not a fan of this IPO in terms of what it means for America.
That said, I’m definitely going to buy a couple stonks. Because I like money too.
in reply to: Babe Club – Charleston, SC (Indie/Rock)Babe Club is so awesome! I can’t wait to see them at High Water Fest. That’s actually how I found out about their music. I’m a huge Noah Kahan fan and so it was a no brainer for me to buy a ticket, and then I started looking at the lineup.
So glad they booked Babe Club and I was able to discover them that way! Love the new song.
in forum: Music DiscussionHey everybody, I am new to the music industry and I’d live to try to manage my first band. All I really know is that I want to be involved, and I want to help artists stay organized. And of course, it would be cool to be paid a little bit for my efforts.
But really, I’m just super curious about how it all works. Since I don’t know where to begin, I am trying to learn as much as I can about how to get started as a manager for a band, and what it’s like to be a band manager. I hope there...

Since I don’t know where to begin, I am trying to learn as much as I can about how to get started as a manager for a band, and what it’s like to be a band manager. I hope there are some artist managers reading this forum who can give me some advice and insight.
Do I simply reach out to a band I like and ask to be their manager? Do all bands even have managers?
I guess not all of them would be able to pay one especially if they are just starting out.
in reply to: SXSW 2024Posted this in another thread, but I also wanted to share this video I found of Greg Freeman’s full set at Cheer Up Charlie’s the other day.
