in reply to: Extra Chill Fest 2024
Looks like it will be Dear Blanca. We are going to announce the festival next week probably. Or the week after.
I am going to set up a campaign to drive pre-sale engagement through the forum by sending the lineup to community members a day early with a coupon code.
in reply to: What Are You Listening To Right Now?MAY 21st at the Charleston Pour House we’ll see the return of the American psychobilly trio, Rev. Horton heat. I got to photograph them back in October of 2019. You can see me experimenting with the ever popular for concert photography ‘Star filter’ in these. Done right it’s fantastic… overdone, it’s corny. I may have baked some of these too long… but hey, all in good fun.

A great show by some very remarkably talented and experienced musicians. Worth it in the spades to see Mr. Heath play the hell out of his guitar!!
I’m signed up to shoot that night, so if you make it out, say hi !!

Changed the thread title.
You want to take a trip down memory lane? Check out this article I did on Joey’s pre-Cry Baby band, Butterfly. Way back in 2017 (!).

Wonder if the new Cry Baby stuff will be more like this!
this rules- thanks for sharing!
#YearOfCryBaby – the album is shaping up so strongly- absolutely loving all the singles so far + we get Kid Lake debut album in August.
in reply to: What Are You Listening To Right Now?Smooth, brilliant, entrancing, and addicting all come to mind when attempting to pin words to this masterwork from Marcus Brown. It’s so soulful and danceable, the opening 3 track run is easily one of the best 3 track runs of last year. It’s a little bit front-loaded but it awesome all the way through. As fresh as it gets in the year of our lord 2023. Following the success of this record, Marcus Brown signed to XL records.
Favorite Tracks: “Quantum Suicide,” “Shed That Fear,” “Daddy,” “The Fields,” and “Workers Interlude”...Smooth, brilliant, entrancing, and addicting all come to mind when attempting to pin words to this masterwork from Marcus Brown. “Hell of a Ride” and “Poison-Soaked” are SOTY contenders (both in my top 5 so far).in reply to: High Water 2024chubes said:

in reply to: What Are You Listening To Right Now?Diggin/ up some gold.
I was fortunate to be able to photograph Maggie Koerner at the Charleston Pourhouse back in 2019, when she opened, for another favorite, Tank and the Bangas. Recently, I’ve been going back through shoots I’ve done in the past, and attempting to apply new methods of editing to my images… as both my ability and the software has improved over the years, allowing me to get ‘more’ from even those older images.
I’ll add the link for that at the bottom if you care to...

I’ll add the link for that at the bottom if you care to poke around… but definitely check out Maggie’s work. Her originals are really good and she nails down a few cover tunes as well. If you ever get the chance to see her live, don’t pass it up, she absolutely kills the stage show.
Her song, “Love Drug” (FF to 4:30) is probably my fave from this session, but for sure it’s all excellent. Get your face melted!
in reply to: The Jerry ThreadNew GarciaLive out on June 14th. Volume 21, featuring the show from 2/13/76.
I’m into this of course and can’t wait to hear it. But I’ve gotta say I really loved the previous one from ’82 and I would love to hear some more 80s Jerry see release in general.
I’m aware that this was a rougher period for him but I also think some of the best “diamonds in the rough” are 80s jerry.
Happy with any new JGB that makes its way into the world.
in reply to: Community Website IdeasRight on. Well done. 🙂
in reply to: Craziest Place You’ve Smoked Weed in CharlestonThomas Street downtown used to be known among my friends as “The Chill Street”, and we would go there and burn spliffs as we walked around on weeknights.
Sunday Blunt Day in Marion Square. The thought of doing that today gives me anxiety.

Good question and thanks for asking it. Couple things that we have in the works right now that could start to answer that question. Aside from the answer that says record and release some music and hit us up about it (or post it on this forum):
- We are working on an open mic style event at Lofi that will hopefully give more opportunities for people who want to play. (first one May 23rd)
- I am adding a feature to our calendar that would allow people to list their own shows ...

Open to other ideas, if you have something in mind. I can’t interview everybody because there isn’t enough time. This forum was created to try and give us more room to include more people, so we are actively working on that.
Anyone is welcome to chime in with ideas!
