Well, the rain just started coming down in Charleston and it won’t be stopping for at least 3 days. The city is going to flood a lot. Probably more than it has flooded since Joaquin in 2015, which they called the “1000 Year Flood”. In all my years that is currently the worst I’ve ever seen the flooding downtown.
Aside from that, we’re all about to be holed up indoors for the next few days. So, I figured we might as well throw our own hurricane party in the Extra Chill Community!

I always dive into creative projects during a hurricane, and listen to a lot of music. The weather makes me very reflective. What about you? How do you spend your time during storms?
Take it easy, everyone. Be safe, don’t do anything stupid — but if you do, make sure you film it!
Here’s a photo of me and my friends after our hurricane party on Blake Street in 2015. We were on our way to ACs, the only bar that was open, after drinking all day on the second floor of my house. We waded through waist-deep flood water to get there. A bunch of 21-22 year old hooligans.
Here are some videos of people wakeboarding in the streets of Charleston. Some of these people I knew in college, including my friend Wes Huber.

Below is our newest one, Cheese. Just came out this week. Believe it or not, it’s kind of a love song. Bringing your man or lady some cheese is about as true as love gets. Hope the folks around here dig it!

in reply to: SUSTO – Live From Codfish Hollow (2024)Video by Persona La Ave of “Get Down” live from Codfish Hollow
in reply to: New Music 2024in reply to: PhishThe band has been looking reeaally chiseled and dialed in. Every time I look at the setlist, I’m loving what I’m seeing in terms of variability from night to night. It’s like they’re trying real hard to broaden the boundary around what songs are considered in ‘regular rotation.’ Pair that with keeping the second set sub-10 songs makes for some real hype for Mondegreen
Phish on.

Something that is in the works:
I want to make it so you can post a reply without reloading the page. This way if you are watching a video, you can keep watching it and post a reply without having to go back to your spot in the video or pause it at all.
Shouldn’t be too hard to implement…

in reply to: CARLS – Charleston, SC (Rock)Dude, just wanna say I’ve been listening to this stuff. It’s dope. I love how it brings the same sort of vibes as early 80s new-wave/mod revival. Good stuff. Dale, Wisconsin is my favorite so far.
in reply to: Share Your First Song of the DayIf there was one artist I could pick as a #1 favorite, it would probably be Can. This version of Paperhouse is a good one

I will keep updating this playlist as often as I can. 28 songs is kind of a lot to add at once, but we’re experimenting here.
Follow the playlist to keep up with this experiment and discover new music! Come to Extra Chill Fest August 10th, and bring your friends!
