Last week, Scene SC released another set of live sessions filmed at Columbia’s Papa Jazz Record Shoppe (which just celebrated 40 years of business!). The artist featured this time is Blake Ratliffe of the Charleston indie rock band Youngster. Here Blake plays solo acoustic versions of two songs, “Where Your Woman Lies” and “Private Party”. The tracks come from Youngster’s recent full-length album, Rosa’s Cantina, which was released back in March.
According to a conversation I had with Blake last week at The Royal American, Youngster is currently in the process of writing and recording some new material. He said the new material has a Beach Boys vibe, and in the interview that accompanies the Scene SC release, Blake says that Youngster is “going tropical”. We’ll just have to wait and see, but I do like the sound of that.
