Young Mister – “Best”

Last night, Young Mister dropped a post on Facebook about checking Spotify at midnight, which obviously meant that he was releasing another single off the upcoming album Sudden Swoon. After hearing the lead single “What If I?” that Young Mister released earlier this month, there was no way I was going to skip out on this one. As promised, “Best” hit Spotify at midnight, and sure enough, it did not disappoint.

Young Mister, the musical project of former Charleston resident Steven Fiore, has always found strength in sincere, heartfelt songwriting, and relaxed instrumentation. What we’ve heard of Sudden Swoon thus far utilizes these familiar elements, but does so in a way that somehow feels more genuine than ever before. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that Steven considered calling it quits on his musical career, but it seems like he’s found a new stride that strips away all pretenses and takes it right to a personal level. Not to mention, the production is more crisp and clear than any of the previous Young Mister releases. That certainly helps.
