Here’s an awesome Wilco set, way back from 1997 when they were just a bunch of kids in a band, fresh off playing country music in Uncle Tupelo, and having just released the excellent album Being There. Jeff Tweedy is so young and full of energy here, it’s great. The video was recorded on May 5th, 1997 at Irving Plaza in New York City, and includes four different interview sessions. It looks like this was originally released on DVD, and has somehow found its way onto Youtube.
I’ve included the tracklist below, just to give you an idea of what kind of songs you could expect to hear at a Wilco show in 1997, back when the late Jay Bennett (RIP) was still in the band. It seems that he and Jeff Tweedy had some creative differences, and Jay eventually left Wilco to pursue a solo career. He was then replaced by Nels Cline, and the rest is history.
