Valley Maker – “A Couple Days” (Live From Wrigley Field)

Yesterday, Scene SC premiered the newest Live From Wrigley Field video featuring South Carolina native Valley Maker. The premiere was paired with an interview with Valley Maker’s Austin Crane, a South Carolina native who has since moved out Seattle to continue his musical career. Crane spoke with Scene SC about what he misses most about South Carolina, as well as his newest album Rhodonendron, which was released on October 12th on Frenchkiss records.

Valley Maker’s story is an interesting one: he pursued a double major in economics and Russian studies at the University of South Carolina, and in order to graduate he was required to pursue a project that was not related to either of those topics. Austin chose to pursue music, and his self-titled debut album was also his college thesis. Since the release of Valley Maker in 2010, the project has soared toward success. Rhodonendron is the third album from the project, and was produced by the renowned Chaz Bundick of Toro Y Moi (another SC project) and Trevor Spencer (Father John Misty, Fleet Foxes).

For the Live From Wrigley Field session, Valley Maker played “A Couple Days”, the first track off the new album. This particular session was filmed in Black Mountain, SC.
