Tyrie – “GUNFIRE” ft. JMICHAEL (Video)

Last week, hip-hop artist Tyrie dropped a new single, “GUNFIRE,” featuring and produced by JMICHAEL, also known as John Michael Canter (of Sandcastle). The track was released along with a silly music video that features the duo kicking it around the house.
“GUNFIRE” opens with a bit of mysterious piano music, setting a slightly ethereal stage for the rest of the track to unfold. The beat comes in, quickly bringing things down to earth, and Tyrie begins to rap at a steady pace. The chorus circles back to some of the initial airiness through some light, echoey background vocals, but with a little grit due to the subject matter. “20 g’s on the table” is repeated. Lines about the harsh nature of our reality, such as “The world’s cold” and “time is money,” abound. The track closes on one simple word, “gunfire.”
