Shaniqua McCants joining Terraphonics is one of the best things that’s happened in the Charleston music scene in the past year or so. Yesterday, Vents Magazine gave us another reason to be glad about this collaboration in the form of new single from Terraphonics called “Move”. This is the second studio release since Shaniqua joined the band, the first being “Stay Warm” that dropped in November.
According to the Vents article, “Move” is Terraphonics guitarist and producer Thomas Kenney’s take on the way you start to feel when you stay up into the early hours of the morning. Being the insomniac that I am, I know that feeling all too well. Those are the best hours for creativity, at least for me, and “Move” captures that fairly well. The Terraphonics project as a whole kind of has a late-night vibe to it, so it’s interesting that they’ve brought that idea into the studio this time.
Terraphonics will play a free show at Proof on February 11th from 9pm to midnight. Joining them that evening will be Kevin Shields of Little Stranger, who has promised to “rap at dangerous speeds”. Facebook event here.
