Charleston rock band Tennis Courts have just released their debut single, “Red Wine”, which comes from the band’s upcoming debut EP, Best Regards, due out on January 22nd. The tune and the rest of their upcoming EP was produced by Mark Bryan of Hootie & The Blowfish, which I don’t have to tell you is a pretty big deal around here. In addition to being produced by Bryan, it was engineered by Preston Dunnavant, who also worked with Daddy’s Beemer on their recent album Denmark, and of course mastered by the Godfather Matt Garber himself.
“Red Wine” is an upbeat garage rock tune that is super loose, both production-wise and musically. It certainly bangs and it is catchy, but for the hipsters in the back it lacks an experimental spark. I find myself wanting it to be weirder, this being 2021 and all. That said, I’m sure you’ll be hearing this one and more Tennis Courts all over 105.5 The Bridge very soon. It’s done well and wrapped up nice and neat, and with the big name attached it will have no problem finding ears.
