Tennis Courts released a new single, “But The Weather,” on Friday. The song will be part of the band’s upcoming EP, Music for Movies + Television, which is scheduled to drop on June 24.
“But The Weather” is a solid, full-bodied indie rock track, with drums and guitar jangling on in equal measure. The lyrics describe a kind of listlessness: “I walk around and I waste a day / I got no ambition and got nothing to say.”
Sonically, “But The Weather” takes the mundanity of living with a sense of aimlessness and makes it interesting, at least for the listener. The chorus repeats the old adage, “Shit don’t change but the weather,” but the song ultimately ends on a note of optimism.
Tennis Courts celebrated the release with a show at Music Farm on Friday with Little Bird and Cry Baby. Stream “But The Weather” below and keep your eyes peeled for Music for Movies + Television.
