    SUSTO – “God of Death”
    Published: October 23, 2021

SUSTO released a new single, “God of Death,” this week. It’s the fourth single they’ve dropped off their upcoming album Time in the Sun, which drops next Friday, October 29th. The track is a deeply introspective and personal look at grief in singer Justin Osborne’s life, as well as a reflection on the dual nature of life and death in general.

“I don’t want to think about my father dying,” the song opens. Sonically, “God of Death” is cinematic, with a layered dynamism that offers fitting support for the heavy lyrical subject matter. Osborne’s voice displays a magnetic depth.

“If it all ends tomorrow / I had a blast / it looks so beautiful / and hurts so bad,” is a particularly poignant line in the chorus. According to Osborne’s interview with American Songwriter (who premiered the track), “God of Death” represents a turning point in the album’s creation that occurred after the passing of his father.
