Stop Light Observations dropped a new song, “Trajic Majic,” last week. It’s the latest single from the band since “downBAD,” which was released in April.
“Trajic Majic” starts off on the softer side, with a beachy pop beat that has an easy-going summer vibe. The sonic lightness is a bit ironic when contrasted with the lyrics, which are more pessimistic. “I can see your diamond / Nobody is trying / It’s tragic magic love,” Will Blackburn sings. His voice is high and sing-songy throughout the track, again building a sense of irony.
According to a post on the band’s Instagram, the song is a reaction to how we, as a culture, are “force fed fairy tail romance the second we come home from the hospital until the day we die,” and how even though we are aware that it’s an illusion, we still fall for it every time.
