#SaveTheLegs Benefit Concert at Charleston Pour House to Raise Funds for Amita Fukui
    Published: July 29, 2023

What’s up Extra Chill fam! This segment of #GxldApproved coverage is going to be a bit different than the usual.

On Monday, July 31st, myself and a lineup of some of Charleston’s most talented artists and musicians are coming together at The Charleston Pour House for a cause greater than music. We will be performing at The Pour House as a benefit concert for lead singer of Black Zola, Amita Fukui.

For the last few years, Amita has given us an original style, sound, and presence with Black Zola, all the while dealing with a serious medical condition that he has kept within the limits of his inner circle.

Due to the ever-changing health insurance system, Amita has been denied the coverage for the surgery and has had to self medicate and maintain the health of his legs for a few years now.

In an effort to raise money for him to have the necessary surgery to maintain and heal his worsening condition, he is throwing a benefit concert and all proceeds from the show will be used for his venous insufficiency surgery.

This concert is important because it creates the opportunity to show the city the power of unity within in the Charleston Music Scene. Amita, lead singer of Black Zola with Josh Gecowets and 1/3 of the recently formed group Rhodium, with yours truly, has consistently been a fixture throughout every corner of the music scene.

Whether it be supporting the scene, putting in work with Soul Power Productions, or providing heartfelt music with Black Zola and Rhodium, Amita is known for his intense passion and enthusiasm for anything he’s involved with.

As a gesture of brotherhood, appreciation, and support, we are coming together as a community to support and put #GxldApproved power behind our brother in tuneage, Amita Fukui. To get more information about the July 31st show and Amita’s story, check out his GoFundMe link.

Also, show support by liking, posting, and commenting on all posts involving the benefit concert. Don’t forget to use that #SaveTheLegs hashtag!!
