Rex Darling – “Hampton Park” (1 or 2 Sessions)
    Published: February 2, 2021

Ever since the start of the pandemic, Columbia newspaper Free Times has been producing live sessions for local musicians who are unable to perform for an actual audience due to the virus. The videos are created in collaboration with our pal David Stringer of Scene SC. We’ve only caught a handful of these, but we couldn’t miss the most recent one featuring Rex Darling, who are one of the most promising new bands in the state.

You might remember Rex Darling from the Extra Chill Leap Year Jamboree, in another universe, when they joined Easy Honey and Nordista Freeze for a sold out party at the Royal American. Here we have a much more mellow vibe, with Catherine Hunsinger and John Vail of Rex Darling performing a stripped-down version of the unreleased track “Hampton Park” in front of Roy Paschal’s “River Maiden” sculpture in Cayce.

Watch the Free Times 1 or 2 Sesssion featuring Rex Darling’s “Hampton Park” below, and check out their single “Invisible Ink” on the Comfort Monk Gratitude, Vol 2 compilation.
