After an extended hibernation, Charleston’s John Bias has recently woken up his bandmates and introduced his new-and-improved project The Simplicity. The core of The Simplicity consists of Bias along with Tommy Merrit (bass) and Drew Lewis (drums). This morning we’re happy to introduce their rockin’ lead single “LAUGHTER” off their upcoming debut album, Dahlin’, recorded with Wolfgang Zimmerman at The Space here in Charleston.
According to John Bias himself, Dahlin’ has roots in the Spring of 2020 with some early demos recorded in Asheville with the band Shaken Nature. With the demos in hand the band decided to pursue a cleaner and tighter sound, and thus reached out to Wolfgang and booked two weeks of studio time.
During those two weeks The Simplicity were joined by several friends including Dan Fetterolf and Brady Sklar of Daddy’s Beemer, Tyler Sim, Sally Mahon, and Sam Jaeger, all of whom made contributions to the record, with mixing done by Wolfgang and mastering by Andrew Halley (a.k.a JD Moon). The band has been sitting on Dahlin’ for over a year now as they wanted to wait until they could tour again before releasing it. Now the time has finally come and John Bias and his sweet Dahlin’ will enter the world!
