Premiere: SUSTO – “Dead Flowers” (Rogue Acoustic Live Version) ft. She Returns From War
    Published: May 26, 2021

There’s always something special about a SUSTO show at The Royal American. The venue has been a hometown staple for SUSTO since long before anybody knew the words to “Dream Girl”, and Justin Osborne even worked in the kitchen there before he started playing music full time. The Royal American and Charleston itself seem to give SUSTO’s music more context, as you can imagine that much of the music was inspired by time spent there. This nostalgic energy that SUSTO brings to the Royal American has stayed true over the years, even as the band has grown through many forms.

Next Friday, June 4th, SUSTO will release a time capsule of this special Royal American energy in the form of a live album called Rogue Acoustic. The album was recorded live at the Royal American on February 7th, 2020, and featured Justin on an acoustic guitar with several friends joining him for stripped-back performances over the course of the evening.

Earlier this month the band released the Rogue Acoustic version of “Hard Drugs” featuring Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses. Today, we’re excited to premiere the second single from the album, SUSTO’s cover of “Dead Flowers” by The Rolling Stones, featuring Hunter Park of She Returns from War. Like “Hard Drugs”, this one comes with a video of the performance that showcases the vibe and the love present, both on stage and in the room. “Dead Flowers” is an excellent choice of a song for SUSTO to add to their small repertoire of cover songs, and Hunter’s vocals on this version add some mystical depth and twang to the mix.

Rogue Acoustic will join the fan-favorite SUSTO Stories (2018) and Live at the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame (2013) in the ranks of stripped-back SUSTO live albums, and it follows their most recent studio album, 2019’s Ever Since I Lost My Mind. SUSTO will embark on a trio tour in support of Rogue Acoustic, with Justin being joined by SUSTO drummer Marshall Hudson and Rose Hotel’s Jordan Reynolds. The tour kicks off June 10th at the Royal American and runs through the Southeast for the rest of the month, with much of the tour already being sold out.
