PG RA Releases New Album, Heavy Motion

South Carolina-based rapper PG RA released a new album, Heavy Motion, on Friday. The ten-song project is the artist’s follow-up to his 2021 album Rare Breed. The tracks are fast-paced yet heavy, and PG RA raps quickly to match frenetic beats.

Like much of PG RA’s work, Heavy Motion deals with themes of growing up in and around poverty, conflict, violence, and tragedy. The title track and last song on the album, “Heavy Motion,” particularly exemplifies an exploration of this subject matter. “Role Model” also delves into similar topics.

That’s not to say there isn’t fun and lightheartedness on the album, though. Many of the songs, especially “Trippin” and “What She Need,” are upbeat and rife with tongue-in-cheek lyrics.
