Charleston instrumental outfit Lureto dropped a new EP, Walk Thoughts, this week. It’s the group’s first release since their EP of Grateful Dead covers, Everywhere: The Dead Sessions earlier this year.
Walk Thoughts is a 5-song project that exemplifies Lureto’s mellow-mindedness while showcasing each member’s individual instrumental prowess. In case you missed Extra Chill’s coverage of the band’s debut single, “Pew Pew”, in June, here’s a rundown of the talented musicians who make up the group: Ross Bogan of Doom Flamingo, Ben Mossman of Little Bird, and Wallace Mullinax of The Reckoning.
The opening track of Walk Thoughts, “People are Strange,” is an instrumental cover of the classic song by The Doors. It’s followed by “1B” and “City Parking,” which was released as a single in July. The EP closes with “5th,” a groovy, guitar-driven track. Each song is dynamic, with little tricks and changes that keep you paying attention.
