Little Stranger – “Girl III” (Sugarshack Sessions)

It’s highly appropriate that Little Stranger’s Sugarshack Sessions featuring “Girl III” dropped while Long Miles was recording their first album in 6 years at Coast Records. In case you didn’t know, John Shields of Little Stranger also plays in a laid-back reggae infused rock band called Long Miles, who have been pretty low-key over the past few years, only playing a handful of shows in mostly their hometown of Philadelphia. “Girl III” samples the song “Girl, Don’t Come Around” off the debut Long Miles EP that came out way back in 2010.

The “Girl III” live session was recorded at the Sugarshack Recording Compound in Bonita Springs, FL. Usually the Sugarshack Sessions are recorded outside, but since it was raining when Little Stranger rolled through they decided to move the operation inside for this one. You can tell from watching that the Little Stranger dudes were excited about this one, and the fact that it was going to be a unique recording for the Sugarshack probably contributed to their excitement.

“Girl III” comes from Little Stranger’s 2017 EP Techniques. They’ve since released another EP called Styles & Dynamics, and they’ve made a full time job out of touring for the past year or so. Little Stranger will play a big Charleston show on the weekend of April 5th and 6th at The Royal American for their very own Friendly Neighborhood Fest. Also playing that weekend are Long Miles, Damn Skippy (who just released The Ollie EP), DJ Flip, Bannanaz (Gorillaz Tribute with Human Resources + LS), and Pip the Pansy.
