Soul singer Bill Wilson was born and raised in Charleston, SC. He’s been playing music in and around the Holy City for his entire life, and now, in 2018, at 76 years of age, Bill is ready to release his debut album, Stand Up!. The album was live-tracked with Wolfgang Zimmerman at Rialto Row and mixed with Matt Zutell at Coast Records.

This morning, we’re pleased to share Bill Wilson’s debut single, “I Wonder”, along with a music video that serves to introduce Bill and his home-grown brand of Lowcountry soul.

The video for “I Wonder” was filmed right in the middle of the Eastside neighborhood where Bill Wilson grew up. It starts with Bill walking out of Knight’s Supermarket on Hanover Street. Bill had his first job at Knight’s as a bag boy when he was just 13 years old. The video then rolls on through the Eastside streets, closing with scenes of a show at The Commodore where Bill used to perform as a young man, back when the place was known as A Touch of Class.

The “I Wonder” music video was directed and shot by Dries Vandenberg of Practical Effect (Dries is also known for his guitar work with SUSTO and Human Resources).

The track features an all-star cast of Charleston’s finest music-makers including  JT Rollerson on drums, Thomas Kenney on guitar, Tony Cobin on bass, Ross Bogan with the organ melody, and backup vocals from Jenny Lee Ford, Aisha Kenyetta, and Kanika Moore.

Enjoy Bill Wilson’s debut single “I Wonder” below, and watch out for news surrounding the release of Stand Up! coming soon.
