Human Stranger is the collaborative band formed by Charleston artists Human Resources and Little Stranger. The band formed a few years back after one too many Royal American beers and a few late nights at the old Coast Records, when the boys all became friends and decided to collaborate. It started with the single “Later Love” in 2018, and a handful of shows as Bananaz: A Tribute to Gorillaz, but then the project went mostly quiet as the artists pursued their own musical endeavors. Quarantine and hot sauce changed that.
On Saturday, May 2nd, Human Resources premiered their take on the popular Youtube show Hot Ones, in which musicians and other famous people eat increasingly hot chicken wings while being interviewed. During that episode, Human Resources pulled an audible and brought in Little Stranger to try the hottest wing, and to answer the question: When will we hear new music from Human Stranger?
Human Resources and Little Stranger promised new Human Stranger music within two weeks. Today, May 29th, almost four weeks after the Hot Ones premiere, the Human Stranger EP has arrived. They did include a cover of “Feel Good, Inc.” by Gorillaz in Episode 2 of Little Stranger TV, though, so we’ll let it slide.
Human Stranger contains three tracks from Human Stranger, two of which have never been heard before today: “Heyboy” and “Cast Away”. The third, “Later Love”, was the debut single released back in 2018.
Also, in case you missed it, Episode 3 of Little Stranger TV premiered last night and includes the first installment of our very own late night talk show, Extra Chill Tonight. Check that out here.
