We will treat this as a living documentation, which will be updated over time, as things are changed or added.
Basic Information
The Extra Chill Community is a music platform powered by WordPress & bbPress, and developed by Chris Huber, the founder of Extra Chill.
This forum integrates seamlessly with extrachill.com to unlock functionalities on the blog, including comments, adding events to the calendar, and purchasing ad-free licenses.
The forum also includes the custom Extra Chill Band Platform and the extrachill.link link in bio tool. This is provided for free to all users who register as an artist or music industry professional during signup.
Embedding Links
To embed a link (Spotify, YouTube, etc), simply paste the plaintext URL directly in the box. You do NOT need any special HTML code. The website will embed the content in the page automatically.
If you DO NOT want to see the content embedded in the page, then use the hyperlink button in the toolbar. That will make the URL clickable, and take users to the platform.
Again, to embed the content, simply paste the bare URL into the chat box.
Posting Images
There are three ways to post images on this forum.
Use the image upload icon in the toolbar.
Drag and drop the image into the chatbox on desktop.
Copy and paste the image into the chatbox on mobile.
If you click your avatar in the top right corner, you will see a dropdown menu with several options, including “Edit Profile”.
After you upload an image, it will show a small preview in the chatbox. This is just for ease of use on mobile. The image will appear full size after publishing.
Updating Your Profile
On the profile edit page you can add a user avatar, a custom user title, your local music scene, and more.
If you use our band platform, this page will also display the bands that have you on the roster.
Note: the links section here is separate from your extrachill.link page.
Rank System
The rank system in the Extra Chill Community is based on point calculations.
Each post on the forum is equivalent to 2 points. Each time a post of yours is upvoted, that is .5 points. Comments on extrachill.com, and published articles on extrachill.com, are worth even more points.
As your points add up, your rank will change, getting colder and colder to showcase how Extra Chill you are.

This forum will be used for public discussions about the platform, but the actual documentation is now located on its own website, which also contains documentation for our platform’s other features.
