This post contains information on how to use Extrachill.link and the Extra Chill Band Platform.
If you have any questions about the system or clarifications requested for this document, please share in the early user feedback thread.
What is Extrachill.link?
Extrachill.link is a free link in bio tool / linktree alternative for the music industry. It is built into the Extra Chill Band Platform, allowing independent artists to showcase their links professionally, in a personalized way, without charging them a dime.
How Do I Create Mine?
To get extrachill.link, simply visit extrachill.link/join and you will be taken through a custom flow to create your link in bio page. This is whether you are an existing community member or you are new here.
The link page is an extension of your band profile in this forum. So, in addition to the link page, you are given a unique space to share updates and build a community around your project.
While using the forum is optional, creating a band profile is mandatory to create a link page at this time. Future plans may allow for de-coupling Extrachill.link from the forum system, or expanding the scope. However, at this time the system is designed for independent musicians.
If you’re just signing up, please note that this feature is only available to users who have the “artist” or “professional” status decided via the checkboxes upon registration.
Contact @chubes if you need to have artist or music industry professional status added to your account.
How It Works
After you create your band profile, your link page will automatically be available for customization via the Manage Link Page.
The quickest way to access this page, and other key pages on this forum, is by clicking your avatar in the top right corner of the screen.
On the Manage Link Page interface, you will see five tabs, plus a live preview of your extrachill.link page that is very close to how it will appear in the wild.
I made a meticulous effort to ensure that this page works well on mobile devices, as I’m aware that many of you will be doing this on your phone.
Info Tab
This is where you add basic info about your band. Band name, profile picture, and short bio. The info tab is synced with your band profile.
Links Tab
The links tab is the bread & butter for building out the main structure of your link in bio page. Here, you can add all of your social icons, which can be displayed either above or below the link sections.
Each link section has an optional title, and allows for unlimited links organized any way you want via the drag-and-drop system.
Customize Tab
The customize tab is all about making your link page visually come to life. This tab allows for extensive customization, including fonts, colors, button shapes, and even image size.
Choose between a solid color background, a gradient, or a custom image backdrop.
Advanced Tab
This tab is for users who want to take their extrachill.link page to the next level. It houses advanced features that 99% of other platforms would certainly be charging for.
There are five General Settings on that tab:
- Featured Links: This allows you to select one link from your link page to always appear at the top in a special card layout, including a thumbnail and custom styling. This also adds a new section to the customize tab that allows you to make it stand out however you want.
- Link Expiration Dates: Set an expiration date for links to automatically remove them when the timer runs out. Useful for time-sensitive links so you don’t have to remember to remove things.
- Weekly updates on link page stats: This lets you opt-in to weekly email progress reports on your link page traffic and link clicks. This is a nice reminder to always keep it updated.
- Temporary Redirect: If you enable this setting, your extrachill.link/url will temporarily go straight to one link of your choosing, skipping the link page entirely.
- Disable inline YouTube player: Use this if you would prefer your YouTube links go to YouTube.com instead of playing the video directly in the page.
In addition to each of the above settings, there is also a Subscriber Settings card. This allows you to customize the subscriber collection feature, including its location (either a pop-up on the bell icon, or at the bottom of the links), or disable it. You can also add a custom description here.
Note: Subscribers are collected on the Band Profile Management page under the Subscribers tab. Here you can export all subscribers as a CSV to use anywhere you’d like.
Finally, the Advanced tab includes advanced settings for Tracking Pixels. Here you can enter your Google Analytics tag and your Meta Pixel to enable advanced tracking and targeted advertisements based on traffic to your link page.
Analytics Tab
The analytics tab shows traffic to your link page, plus clicIks on each individual link. You can see basic info about your link page stats for the pas 90 days. Integrate with the advanced tracking system for more in-depth analytics.
Other Notes
The band profile allows for a custom About Section Title & Description if you want to customize even further or add a long bio to your band profile.
Your band profile also includes a header image.
Recently active band profiles show up on the homepage of the forum, so you can get free exposure from Extra Chill’s visitors by staying active and building up your community on the band platform.
If you have any questions about extrachill.link or the Extra Chill Band Platform, let me know in the early user feedback topic.
