Heyrocco Straight Up Killed It At The Commodore
Published: July 8, 2016
Last night Charleston band Heyrocco played a dope show at The Commodore on Meeting Street in downtown Charleston. It was my second time seeing them perform live, and both times they nearly blew the roof off the place, with one major difference. This time, the crowd was lit as hell. There was a big mosh pit right in the middle of the dance floor, and even a few crowdsurfers in the mix. Couple that with spilled drinks that caused a super slick floor, and you’ve got a recipe for disaster. Or a just a damn good rock show.
Heyrocco played a healthy mix of songs off both of their releases, and toward the end they broke down into a pretty hardcore instrumental that made the locals in the crowd go completely nuts. The outskirts of the dance floor were reserved for those who didn’t want to risk slipping on that floor or being smacked in the head by a drunk mosh pit-goer. I found myself somewhere in between, but mostly just enjoying the music and the beer.
If you haven’t yet listened to Heyrocco’s new EP, Waiting On Cool, you’re seriously missing out and I suggest you go do that right now.
Shout out to The Commodore for being a great bar and putting up with last night’s shenanigans. They’ve only been open for something like two months, and I’ve already had plenty of awesome times there. They’ve brought in a bunch of sick artists and I suspect the trend will continue. Not to mention the staff is pretty legit. A+ to The Commodore.
