    Heyrocco – “Poison Apple”
    Published: October 31, 2022

Last week, South Carolina’s former first rock ‘n’ roll band Heyrocco released a new single called “Poison Apple”. The track comes from their long-awaited new album, which will be their first full-length release since 2015’s Teenage Movie Soundtrack.

Heyrocco have gone through several different styles since their cross-country move to Los Angeles, from alternative punk rock to “Love Drunk” cowboys and a few stops in between. The common thread is a fun-loving, quirky silliness that shines through no matter what genre they happen to be playing.

“Poison Apple” is again a different style, this time opening with a Spanish verse sung over a gloomy guitar melody. Soon, vocalist Nate Merli counts to four, the drums and crunchy electric guitars kick in and we’re flying through a pop-punk rock arrangement with lyrics sung in English.

As the song rages on, we hear hints of the greatest pop-punk and emo hits of the early 2000s, with Heyrocco injecting their own fresh ideas to give things a modern twist. They managed to add something interesting to a tried-and-true genre with this one, and we’re here for it.

When asked if they like blink-182, Heyrocco replied: “Duuuude.. gotta watch the stay together for the kids video. Almost goin for more of a pedro the lion meets HEYROCCO on this one.”

Stream “Poison Apple” below, and stay tuned for more news on the album.
