Grace Joyner released a new single, “Lovers Do,” on Friday, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Soft and ethereal, the song begins with an initial focus on atmospheric piano sounds and Joyner’s voice. The tone is melancholy. Some percussion picks up a third of the way through, adding depth.
“Every time I think of you / my body yearns / and every time you think of me / I hope it hurts,” Joyner sings, reminding us of the sharper side of love.
“Lovers Do” is the moody follow-up to January’s spooky “Vampira,” and we’re excited to hear what Joyner has up her sleeve next. Listen to the new track below.
