    GASP – “The Foe” (Video)
    Published: October 22, 2019

Rock Hill’s GASP have just released a new music video for their upcoming single “The Foe”, which will drop on Halloween. “The Foe” comes from GASP’s second album, Can’t Buy A Vibe, the follow-up to their 2018 debut A Violet Maze of Dreams. The new album will be released in the early part of 2020.

According to yesterday’s Queen City Nerve article featuring “The Foe”, frontman Josiah Blevins wrote the song about a form of anxiety that he suffers from regarding being seen, known or thought about. The song and video was further inspired by an interaction Josiah had with former Charlotte mayor Pat McCrory in which Josiah passed him on the street and felt the politician passing judgement with his eyes. This interaction happened way back in 2008, but clearly Josiah never forgot that feeling of being “natural enemies” with the former mayor.

The video for “The Foe” features a blindfolded nighttime hunt for a GASP cassette tape. When the tape is found up in a tree, our foragers bring the tape inside, remove their blindfolds, and dance ecstatically to the sounds on the tape.

This coming Friday, October 25th GASP will play the Halloween party at The Courtroom in Rock Hill alongside Gardeners and Sgt. Peeples’ Lonely’ Hearts Club Band. GASP will perform the Talking Heads’ Remain In Light, Gardeners will play a bunch of Radiohead songs, and Sgt. Peeples will naturally play The Beatles Sgt. Pepper in its entirety. Facebook event for that is here.

Watch the video for “The Foe” below, and follow GASP on Instagram to keep up with what they’ve got going on. The band says they’ll be putting a ton of content on their IGTV channel going forward.
