About Twen
The first time I saw TWEN was at The Royal American back in 2018, when they opened for a sold out Ron Gallo show. I had never heard of the band, but I was super impressed, and have seen them a number of times since, in several different settings. This included a set at Austin City Limits, a couple more Royal shows, and blowing the Nude Party out of the water at the Pour House.
Singer Jane Fitzsimmons manages to be multiple different people at once while the group slinks through sultry, seedy soundscapes of broken-down beach towns and dive bars. They’re one of the most badass DIY bands I’ve had the pleasure of seeing and meeting over the years, and I’m proud to say that Extra Chill put this whole thing together.
Their recent single, “SeaStar” is one of the most engaging new releases from late 2023. There’s more where that came from, including a new album and a few more videos.
Mantra are a local band whose members have made themselves a vital part of the Charleston music scene. Not only do they play vibed-out rock music with big frontman energy from Ben Patrick, Noah James the keyboard player is the brains and production talent behind the fabled DIY venue, Stuart’s House. Mantra are a well-deserved and fitting pairing with TWEN and will kick things off in style on June 9th.
