Last week, Charleston rockers Easy Honey released a new single called “Fork You”. This is the first single off the second part of their two-part album, Maritime Love Affair, and follows the release of Maritime Love Affair Pt. 1 back in September. The tunes were all recorded with engineer Matt Zutell at Coast Records here in Charleston and mastered by Matt Garber of For the Record.
“Fork You” to me falls a bit short, mostly in a lyrical sense. It begins with what feels way too much like a nod to Akon with the line “I wanna fork you”. It’s the first time that I’ve disliked Easy Honey’s lyrics enough to take me out of the song. Luckily the tune redeems itself once the drums kick in, and the opening lyric about forking is never repeated. The song ends with a badass breakdown that almost makes me forget about the initial hiccup.
