    Daddy’s Beemer – “Daybreak”
    Published: April 10, 2023

Daddy’s Beemer released a new song, “Daybreak,” on Friday. It follows “ Ivy” and is second to last single the group will drop before the release of their new album, Tangles, on May 19th.

The band views “Daybreak” as, according to a on their Instagram account, “the heaviest track off of Tangles,” and this distinction feels appropriate – the track is melancholy yet melodic, reminiscent of The Cure in its art pop-meets-rock moodiness.

The track opens with the sort of glittery, reverb-heavy guitar sound that instantly signals a Daddy’s Beemer track. Vocals and simple strumming play against an echoey backdrop for a few bars until a thumping, almost electronic beat thunders in. It’s a distinct sound that stands apart from the tracks we’ve heard so far from Tangles.

Lyrically, “Daybreak” reveals the thoughts of an anguished mind, with lines like:  “The hands of the clock beat me senseless and endlessly.”

“Daybreak” was, like other recent singles from the band, recorded and mixed with Preston Dunnavant in Denmark, South Carolina, and mastered by Matthew Garber at For The Record Mastering

The song represents a new, dynamic sound from Daddy’s Beemer, and I’m excited to hear more.

Listen to “Daybreak” below while you wait for Tangles, and, catch their just-announced two-night album release party at The Royal American on May 19th and 20th.
