This past Friday, Charleston hip-hop artist BD from the Sax dropped the music video for his song “I’m A Skater”. The video was directed by Liam Rowley, who you might know as the director behind the video for “In The Mix” by Ivory Keys.
BD from the Sax is the musical project of 22-year old Charleston native Bobby Williams. He says that the idea for “I’m A Skater” came about while he was driving to Raising Canes (solid choice) to grab something to eat. Bobby had his laptop open in the passenger seat and was listening to beats while he drove. Something caught his ear and he found a melody, then the hook, and by the end of the night he had finished writing the song and recorded it.
“The basic concept of the song is just about me SKATING away from negativity and blocking out anything less than positive,” Bobby explains. “I’m a skater I hope to see you later is what came about as I was free-styling, at that moment I knew the song was a hit.”
“I’m A Skater” is chill and catchy, and the easygoing feel of the video is a good fit. Plus, it was filmed on a beautiful day in downtown Charleston. Can’t go wrong there. Check it out below, and follow BD from the Sax on Instagram here.
